Description
This parcel of land is situated on the east side of Preston Hill behind Holly Cottage towards the northern edge of Wingham village. The woodland lies about 0.8 km (1/2 mile) from the centre of Wingham village which lies between the City of Canterbury, 11km (7miles) to the west and the ancient Cinque Port of Sandwich 11km, (7 Miles) to the east.

This parcel of land is shown edged red for identification purposes only on the front page of these particulars. The land has an estimated area of 1.44 ha (3.56 acres). It is believed to be the site of an ancient sandpit but has now become naturalized by shrubs and trees and has become an attractive piece of coppice woodland that is being actively managed. In spring a profusion of Bluebells is revealed on the woodland floor.

The trees present include mostly sweet chestnut, but with some oak, ash and sycamore. The owner holds a current felling licence (Ref 019/144/2023) from the Forestry Commission for restorative coppicing and thinning work. The benefit of the licence will pass to a purchaser.

The land is accessed via a track subject to various rights of way from the public highway known as Preston Hill to the west. There are various public footpaths that also give pedestrian access.
